Following on from last year’s coffee morning where we raised £134 for Macmillan, we recently held another one and it was a huge success as we raised £155! It was part of Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ which is a nationwide event to raise funds for cancer support. Macmillan provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support for people with cancer and their families, and is a charity very close to my heart. Many people baked cakes, muffins, puddings and even pizzas and samosas which were all available for a donation. There was a prize for best baker, a ‘guess the dots on the cake competition’ and a raffle with a number of great prizes.
Many local businesses generously donated prizes for the raffle and cakes for the cake sale. So a huge thank you to Trenchers, K:Spa, Caffe Nero, Solent Hotel & Spa, Wessex Internet and Dominos. The raffle raised a large chunk of the money and everyone who won was pleased with their prizes.
The coffee morning was a great success and we raised a grand total of £155 (plus gift aid) which has gone straight to Macmillan, to make sure no-one faces cancer alone. The nationwide coffee morning has so far raised over £8.5million this year, with still more yet to paid in. Such a great result and we’re proud we could be a part of it.
