Every year during the summer, the M12 team go for a team building day on the water in some form to celebrate the year’s successes. Last year we raced 2 yachts and this year we did an exhilarating treasure hunt on 3 RIBs.
This year we were treated to much nicer weather than last year, which made the day even more enjoyable. We met for a coffee and a bacon sandwich at the Boathouse Café at Swanwick Marina, then were met by our 3 skippers. They gave out our safety gear, explained about the treasure hunt part of the day, which was to be completed using tablets, and split us into teams. Then we were off! First stop was Hamble, where we had to find various landmarks, solve riddles and complete photo challenges for the first stage of the treasure hunt. Then Then we zoomed out into the Solent and had a great time powering along (a bumpy ride!) before stopping in Yarmouth for some more treasure hunting.
A while later we enjoyed a three course lunch at The Hut in Colwell Bay, Isle of Wight. A lovely little beach restaurant, specialising in seafood (of course!) and everything was delicious. Once we had returned to the RIBs we sped off around the corner to see The Needles and Alum Bay. We also encountered a huge traditional sailing boat with full crew, which was really a sight to see.
As the afternoon came to a close we shot off back towards the mainland to find out which team had won the treasure hunt challenge. Congratulations to the winning team ‘Boaty McBoatface’ who were presented with medals at the end of the day. Thank you to our MD Andrew who treated us, and thank you to everyone involved, who made it such a great day of team building and fun!
