Changing a job can be a difficult leap to make, especially after working somewhere for a big slice of your career – for 9 years I’d been working for an industrial computer company before joining M12 Solutions as a Support Engineer.
I started out working in the manufacturing as a Junior Technician, progressing through the roles and settling in the Engineering and Technical Sales team. I was responsible for gathering customer requirements, designing and quoting for large and small projects, along with overseeing and managing new builds during their prototype stage within production.
Although intellectually challenging and rewarding, I spent a large portion of my time working behind a desk or in meetings and I missed the hands on experience of my early days, as well as always wanting to incorporate a little bit of travelling during my working week. This is why I decided to take the opportunity from M12 as a Support Engineer.
It’s now been 9 months and it has been a very welcome move and one that I’m pleased and proud to have made. I have been given many hours of valuable in-house training, along with courses which have certified me as a SpliceCom Engineer for the install, configuration and maintenance of the hardware and software. I have now travelled to various parts of the country and visited a number of our customers in areas such as Wales, the Midlands and places closer to home. During these visits I have been assisting customers with new installs, office moves, fault call swap outs and my all-time favourite…. a batch of sticky hook switches! In a short space of time here I have learnt so much and I look forward to continuing to expand my knowledge of telecoms and connectivity with M12 Solutions.
